Vws are equipped with oil coolers. There is a seal that seals the oil cooler to the oil filter housing! What happens is this seal will get hard and brittle and split! And will push you oil out ! look for a tell tale sign on the underside of the car, a really fresh oily spot on side of motor for example also look under the hood. If you can not see anything put the right amount of oil in the car, start the car and look underneath and under the hood and see where it is coming from and go from there. Also check the oil filter.
the most common place would be the oil pan. they sit very low to the ground and get busted open alot. possible the drain plug fell out if it wasnt tightened properly. id look underneath the car and check these first. get out a flashlight and follow the oil up to its source. whatever you do dont drive the car even a short distance!
