Depends on where the leak is, if its on your oil pan you could probably do it yourself for the price of a gasket...if its in the head gasket it will cost a little more and is harder to do...maybe $200 to have some one do it or if its not too hard to get to you could do it yourself for the price of a gasket...you could get the gaskets at auto zone or order on line and save a couple of dollars. gaskets should cost between 15 and 30 bucks. if its somewhere else it could cost big bucks in labor to get to.How much would a oil leak cost to get fixed?
It depends on where the leak is. It could be as little as $100 for a valve cover gasket, $300 for a pulley seal to $600 for a head gasket or $1200 to replace a cracked engine block. Chances are if the seller did all that work to it already and didn't fix the leak, the problem is a major one he wants to pass off to someone else.
The seal may cost you 5 dollars the time a effort to get to it could cost you a 1000 dollars. There is no way to know for sure unless you take it to a mechanic and have them give you a estimate. There are allot of seals than could leak and most likely has more than one.
A oilpan gasket cost around 15 to 40 dollars, and on some cars are very easy to replace, but on some cars they are a pain to put in so it would be better to replace it your self.
As much as $600 .
