Is it true that we dont help fix mexico's government cuz they dont have a lot of oil???

cuz we help iraq n all them.Is it true that we dont help fix mexico's government cuz they dont have a lot of oil???
yars, actually, Mexico's only large oil field is nearing depletion. Can we say 'mass exodus'?

And oh, what an opportunity for Bush's friends. Because popular discussion has it that Mexico doesn't have the technology or training to go after their 'harder to reach' oil such as the huge field in the gulf of Mexico. Popular discussion hints broadly that 'even Cuba' welcomes foreign investment to help with complex oil production....

Bush's feelings towards Mexico are a warm and wonderful thing. Aren't they?

yars - thanks for the link.

Note the statement '; 'To tackle Chicontepec and deep water, we need to have a legal framework in which we can work with other companies in strategic alliances. To insist that Pemex alone can develop a project of this nature isn't realistic,' Ramirez said.'; ';

That is where the 'foreign investment potential' comes in. Currently it isn't allowed by Mexican law.

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=1鈥?/a>Is it true that we dont help fix mexico's government cuz they dont have a lot of oil???
Where does one start? And how do you propose we help fix their government? We are already feeding, housing, and education millions of their people. Why the hell would they want to change any thing. We are saving them $68 billion a year. Not another nickle goes over that border unless it has busloads of illegals going with it.
Are you kidding? Mexico has a oil reserve. They have one they haven't even started drilling, because they don't yet have the means to start production yet.

1/2 of all the Millionaires in Latin America live in Mexico, Mexico has a new middle class, and it isn't uncommon to meet business owners that make 70,000 a year-American, not pesos

Mexico is the richest now that it has been in a long time. A lot of Mexicans flew out to see the World Cup, spent a ton of money in Europe.

It's not as a poor country as some people think, though its government is totally screwed up.

They have a LOT of poor people, but if you are poor in Mexico it is really hard, you have to pay for school, and if you can't afford to send your kids to high school, they never get to go. They need to change that if they want to get ahead.

Americans shouldn't take education for granted, no matter how poor you are in America you can still attend K-12th grade without paying a large tuition.
Considering we share borders with mexico, the United States should help the economy of the poor in Mexico. It would help them from illegally crossing the border into the United States, but I dont think it has anything to do with the oil in Mexico.
Help ... is this what the American education system has given us?
Please tell me where you go to school, I want to have them shut down.

Mexico is the second largest importer of oil to America.

Dar, good point I wouldn't have expected less from you, but notice:
What the heck do you think NAFTA was about? Helping the US? Helping Canada? You want to help Mexico? Get all the illegal immigrants, arm them and tell them to get rid of the corruption in their own country! I think Fox is a good man at heart, I think he has great intentions for his country and his people. But between drug cartels, corrupt local politicians and police it is nearly an impossible job. Nothing is going to be fixed in Mexico until the people demand it!
  • how to apply
  • Do you really think Bush is fixing the Oil prices?

even after he already made billions, do you really think he will give us all a break?Do you really think Bush is fixing the Oil prices?
sure, now that the elections are coming.. isnt it a coincidence the oil prices are going down? yea and once republicans are elected again, well see a break all right, of the prices shooting upDo you really think Bush is fixing the Oil prices?
He's too stupid to realize this. He is not the one calling the shots on this. Its the Oil companies that make the call and advise Bush on what to tell countries like Saudi Arabia.
no, I don't think bush et al. is somehow manipulating gas prices

';OkieBoy'; I have to add that you are a sucker if you think supply and demand are the only things that set the price for oil.
No! oil prices are set by OPEC not the president!!!

Check out the price of a barrel of oil each day in the stocks section of the paper that is what determines the price based on what OPEC sells it for
    It's not possible.
Bush does not fix oil or gasoline prices. His bosses do. People like Cheney and the Texas Oil Cartel which daddy Bush is a full member. They are the real power behind the Bush Presidency.
    Nope.
Yes, and he controls the weather! Look at Katrina in Louisiana, then Rita was heading for Texas and Bush used the Weather controller to change its course to Louisiana. Louisiana is run by Democrats you know. Those gulf coast states are run by Republicans and are doing fine except for Louisiana, because it's run by Dems. It has to be Bush's fault!

    .......or maybe not
some of these so-called very bright people answering here should check bush's tax forms, he is not that rich and he gives a very large amount to charity...im sure venezuela would allow him to control the price of oil, they hate him, so dont be silly, he is the president of the usa, not exxon
If Bush could control oil prices, oil would have been cheap the last 5 1/2 yrs. If oil cos could control prices, prices would never come down.
    Why would he?
No, he is having Osamas brother do it for him.
I say that the price of nuclear radiation more precious than oils. Shieks are very dictating on world reaction to things and raise it when felt like it.
And who the heck is fixing the price on bananas?!!?
The group called OPEC, and the oil from foreign countries get together and slow down production to raise the price of oil, and they already have trillions and ';gagillions'; alltogether!

What I cannot understand is why build a wall when Mexico has vast oil area.....why build a wall anywhere....Remember President Reagan....Gorbechev tear down that wall...
People that think that are conspiracy theory idiots! The price of oil, as like most commodities is set by supply and demand, PERIOD!

No nickf, I'm just educated, yea thats it, schooled, learned, whatever you want to call it, I don't just pull things out of my a-s-s like most democrats.
President Bush has to be the most powerful person to have ever lived if he is to be assumed guilty of everything commucrats have blamed him for.
    Nope! Bush isn't an American.
no the world bank only asks his opinion first.
People who understand what the war on iraq is about understand that the price of oil is being fixed. However they also understand that it isnt bush and bush is merely the puppet that dances on command.
I don't know how he could. It's a global market, set by global demand. If, by some off chance he did, no I don't think he'll give anyone a break.

Why won't the gov. step in and stop the price fixing that is going on with the crude oil industry?

The market is too big for the government to control. There are many small independent companies that are willing to produce at market prices. The oil market is not fixed. The best thing that government could do to lower prices, would be to quit subsidizing certain companies and to quit taxing energy. Why won't the gov. step in and stop the price fixing that is going on with the crude oil industry?
why would they want to cut their own throats...its like the crack dealer offering a discount or insurance company actually paying for the ';protection'; you pay for...ain't gonna happen thanks to greed and Americans I guess aren't angry enough to do anything about it, just like all the rest of the crap that we don't do anything about...people in other parts of the world revolt, Americans just keep paying and complaining...we need our own version of Che...put the people back in charge leave the politicians to starve and go without health care....Why won't the gov. step in and stop the price fixing that is going on with the crude oil industry?
    Because there isn't any.

Every time the Democrats trot this out, they have a big investigation, and nothing is ever found.

The Oil industry does not need to fix prices. Supply and demand alone is giving them $100 a barrel. Why would they need to fix prices?

Let me make this simple for you. Until about five years ago America was far and away the world's largest consumer of oil. Then India and China began to allow some economic freedom. Capitalisim worked, and people in India and China began to have money. With that money they buy things. Things that use oil, like cars. (Believe it or not people in China do not enjoy riding a bike to work in the rain and snow any more than people in New Hampshire do.)

China and India began to consume more oil, and buy more oil. Normally this would not be a problem. In the past, when demand increased oil companies simply went out and drilled more wells.

Problem is, thanks to the envoirnmentlaists, there are no places where you can drill new wells, certianly not in the United States. There is oil off of Florida and California, (the first off shore oil well was drilled off of a pier in California) and in ANWAR... but the enviornmentalists won't let anyone drill there. There are natural gas fields all over the Rocky Mountians that are off limits for drilling thanks to envornmentalists getting President Clinton to declare them national wilderness areas and such.

There is some deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico (Chevron discovered a huge field there a few months back.) The tar sands of Alberta have lead to an absolute boom up there. Most of the international oil deposits though are in places where you don't want to drill, for political reasons. Nigeria and the Arab countries are politically unstable. Venezuela has a nutball in charge who is nationalizing everything so nobody is going to pour a couple of billion dollars into developing a field there just to have the Venezulian government steal it all. Same is true in Russia, they went and nationalized gas fields in Sibera that western oil companies had spent billions of their own money on. Nobody is going to throw good money after bad and try to develop oil there. There is no doubt a large amount of oil under Antartica, but the oil companies aren't even allowed to LOOK for oil there under the UN Antartic Treaty.

So, you have increased demand, and a fixed supply.

Simple economics dictates that the price will go up, and up, and up, and up.

The oil companies don't have to fix prices. They don't have to do anything illegal and risk jail time. They don't have to do a bloody thing. They are seeing prices go up, to levels higher than they had ever dreamed possible, thanks to the stunning economic ignorance of the enviornmentalists... the same enviornmentalists that have been trying to fight, vex, and frustrate the oil companies at every turn for over three decades. The oil companies are just sitting back, enjoying the irony, and laughing all the way to the bank.

If you want to blame someone when gas hits $5.00 a gallon, don't blame EXXON or Shell, go blame the Sierra Club and Greenpeace; not non-existant conspiracies full of unnamed people ';at the top';.

EDIT...The reason prices go up ';in case a hurricane hits the rigs in the Gulf'; IS supply and demand.

Oil is priced not by a conspiracy, but by the futures market. (NYMEX google it). (As an aside, you should be quite angry at your teachers for not telling you how futures and stocks and bonds work. How can they say they prepared you for the real world if they don't tell you how your own economy works? !! No wonder we have so many people who bought houses on stupid no doc, teaser rate, adjustable interest loans! This is a good book that will explain it to you in an easy to understand but accurate way. http://www.amazon.com/Street-Journal-Gui鈥?/a>

Simply, put a futures market is ';An auction market in which participants buy and sell commodity/future contracts for delivery on a specified future date. Trading is carried on through open yelling and hand signals in a trading pit. '; People agree to buy oil NOT today, but for future delivery...this is how companies can be sure that they will have the supplies they need. They buy the stuff AHEAD OF TIME (hence the name ';futures';). This is how they schedule deliveries, and lock in the price they are going to pay (or recieve) for what they are selling ahead of time. It is sound financial planning. Futures are traded months in advance, and the information is freely available.

Companies use this. Southwest Airlines used the futures market to lock in the price on gas for their jets on a long term contract a couple of years ago. This is one of the big reasons they are making money and other airlines are not, they locked in the price for their gas before it started to shoot up.

If a hurricane is heading towards an offshore oil field, that tells the traders that there is likely to be a shortage, so the price DOES go up, in anticipation of the possible shortage. That is exactly what the market is SUPPOSED to do. These guys look ahead and say ';Well if the hurricane takes those wells off line, that means there is going to be less oil out there for the next few months; and the price is going to be higher because of it.'; so the prices all go up in anticipation of the coming shortage.

Now I won't lie to you, there are a lot of people invested in the futures market for oil who are speculators right now. Most oil analysts think that the speculation has driven demand for oil futures to levels that are higher than the demand for oil itself is. This isn't a conspiracy, this is just people trying to make money playing the futures market. (A very dangerious thing for anyone who is not a professional investor to do.) Most people think that, if you took out the speculators, the oil price would be lower... how much lower nobody can say, but it is estimated anywhere from $10 to $30 a barrel lower.

Why does the price at your local gas station go up? Because your local gas station works on very thin margins (he makes very little profit on the gas he sells, he makes more off of candy, etc.). He uses the money you pay him TODAY to pay for the gas he is going to sell you tomorrow. (He doesn't get the gasoline he sells you for free. Stations are either franchises or independent, they have to buy the gas they sell you from the wholesaler... the big tanker truck that comes around and pumps it into his tanks.) If can't afford to not have gasoline to sell you, so if he anticipates a shortage coming, he can't afford to sell you gas for $2.50 on Tuesday when it is very likely he will have to pay $2.89 to his wholesaler on Friday to replace that gasoline.

Now there was a time when it didn't matter so much if an offshore field was taken off line for a few weeks, we used to have ';excess capacity'; built into the system. If there was a supply disruption in one place, you could increase production from somewhere else to cover the shortfall. However because of the continuing growth in demand, and the enviornmentalists fixing our supply, that excess capacity has vanished. EVERY source of supply is now critical, and EVERY source is producing a full capacity, (at $100 a barrel you think somebody is holding back on production?) so that is no longer possible. It IS supply and demand.

You might also be interested in this... it is a breakdown of gasoline taxes by state.

    http://www.energy.ca.gov/gasoline/statis鈥?/a>

One last note... EXXON and the other companies generally don't own the oil fields anymore. 85% of the oil fields on Earth are owned by ';State Oil Companies';... i.e. the local government nationalized the oil fields. Pemex in Mexico, or PSDVA in Venezeula (they also own CITGO, bought it a few years ago) or SaudiARAMCO (Saudi Arabia). Most of the oil fields around the world were nationalized back in the 50s. The exceptions are ones in the USA, or offshore.
because those at the top are benefitting from it too.
Because the top guy (the president of the USA) is an oil man, you are funding his retirement. Keep filling it up. LOL
what does the govt. do? all i see on the news these days is how they can't manage funds and irresponsible spending of tax payer dollars
G has no control over international [mideast,uk, etc] corps , only US based. Also, an overwhelming preponderance of evidence would only prompt the G to take steps to bring about a claim of price fixing against a US based corp. that's a very serious charge in the business community. if established as true , it is indefensible [per se illegal] for the accused corp according to US laws.
The government (mainly the president) /does/ have a lot of investments in the oil industry. Why pay for the losses, when you're not the one suffering? -_-

    I love our country, lol
Isnt that why we are in Iraq?

You can unless the weather is very hot. engine oil helps cool and engine somewhat.

Why not add 1/2 quart and see if it is leaking when it is parked?
just go to walmart and buy some oil. pop the hood and look for a little cap on a tube that says oil and start pouring the oil in
add some oil then as soon as possible get the oil changed
    you answered your own question

OPEC sets crude oil prices, so do they make extra billions by illegally fixing oil futures market prices also?

They dont set prices. They set a majority of the production. Demand is the other side of the equation and its impossible to set it with any consistency or oil prices wouldnt be so volatile. And we are still far above Saudi Arabia, and most other OPEC countries besides Kuwait and the UAE in GDP Per Capita. And the highest Purchasing Power GDP by far.OPEC sets crude oil prices, so do they make extra billions by illegally fixing oil futures market prices also?
Yes. Yet the industrialized world is powerless to stop the nations of opec, since they control our oil. This has resulted in the largest transfer of wealth in human history.

My new dark wood table was damaged by hot fragrance oil,the color has come off in spots, how can i fix this?

Try a non removable marking pen of the same color, it could take a fair bit of work to fix it properly or just a tinny bit to hind it, plus the pen comes in handy for any other marks and alike you might need to touch up.My new dark wood table was damaged by hot fragrance oil,the color has come off in spots, how can i fix this?
This happened to me before, you soke it with water, and then get the blow dyer, and blow the heat on it with full speed.

Will Barack Obama Fix The High Priced Gas & Oil Problem For America?

I haven't heard of any of his solutions on this, although I looked on his website and it said he wants to support Ethnol/Bio/Gas fuels... I sure hope he isn't planning on using corn for that process.

    =|

I won't forget how he complained about taxing the Oil companies because they would only raise the prices and that it was a political stunt... And how he didn鈥檛 offer a solution, and we鈥檙e still waiting鈥?Yet now Mr. Obama wants to tax the heck out Coal, and natural gas industries, I guess they won鈥檛 raise prices like the Oil companies would in Obamanation?

Will Barack Obama Help with the high gas problems or will he only contribute to making things terribly worse?

Can anyone tell me what he is going to do about Gas %26amp; Oil Problems in the United States, and around the rest of the world, and with U.S. business relations with middle eastern oil companies %26amp; the Gas %26amp; Oil Markets, which all directly effects the economy, and the stability of the rest of the world? Will Barack Obama Fix The High Priced Gas %26amp; Oil Problem For America?
obama wants to stop subsidizing the oil industry. he wants to end every single tax break and demand that one percent of the revenues from oil companies with over $1 billion in quarterly profits go toward fiananciing alternative energy research and the necessary infrastructure.

in regards to the fuel-efficency standards, obama wants to work with u. s. automakers. many automakers' biggest expense is the health care costs for their retired autoworkers.

what he would like to do is this: in exchange for federal finaincial assistance in meeting the health care costs of retired auto workers, the Big Three companies would reinvest these savings into developing more efficent hybrid vehicles.

he also wants to see E85 (85% ethanol gas) at every gas station. Will Barack Obama Fix The High Priced Gas %26amp; Oil Problem For America?
There is not a lot anyone can do as long as we are at the mercy of OPEC!

We need to become energy dependent. All of the resources are here we just need someone with the b**** to take on the responsibility.

We have plenty of land to grow corn, sugar cane or switch grass for ethanol. Yet the Democrats with Bush's help passed the Farm Bill to PAY farmers NOT to plant crops!!!!
Well Our Democratic Congress tried to pass a bill the other day that would taken away tax breaks to the Big Oil Co's and impose a Windfall profits tax on them that would be used in part to create more jobs... but the Republican Senators blocked it...

Now I am not saying that it would have helped much or was even the right idea, but at least they were trying to do something...
He will try to turn the United States in to a European style socialist country. The gas price over in Europe is around $10 a gallon. There you go. Obama = higher prices on EVERYTHING including more money out of your paycheck.
can someone tell me how raising taxes on oil companies will lower the price of oil?I hear all of these Dems telling how Obama tried to fix the problem with a windfall tax.Won't the Oil companies pass that on to the consumer?
Huh! Your question would be way above his head. You are talking about a guy that sits in a tub filled with bubble-bath, playing Admiral, with his litt.le toy wind-up boat.

Obama, as in everything he touches - will make all things worse!
Hardly. He is a far-left liberal who is opposed to us accessing the 86 BILLION barrels of oil in American territory. 85% of it has been closed to drilling by Congress, based on faulty 70's science.

    NOBAMA! 08
Oil is high because you tree huggers don't want to drill for more oil, plain and simple. The cost is higher, the dollar is weka. Obama will only make this worst, not better
No one person can fix this mess. It will take the cooperation of the house and senate and president. Good luck getting that.
He can/will fix it if he forms an alliance with Chavez and Ahmedinejad. Otherwise, his rantings are just populist grist for the mill.
Of course gas prices will go down when Obama wins. No one will have a job, so we will have no where to go, less driving, less demand...huh? Change you better believe.
If Obama is elected, gas will go up to $20 per gallon?
No he cannot, he will be a lame duck president.
    Oh god... here it comes!!

The haters... %26amp; the thumbs down....

You opened up a can of worms with this one.
    No.
He doesn't have Hillary at his side, giving him the right answers.lol
    Psst! He HAS no plan
he'll only make it go up
The one I wanted in office is no longer in it, but the last thing I want is another Bush (aka McCain). If we get a Republican in there were scr-wed! Nothing in the gas prices is going too change until after the election and McCain also has his hands in the oil business, as does Bush. I'm lost at this point, but I do have a fear of another 4 years of another Bush. But to answer your question about Obama, I have no idea, but I'll just hope for the best. Hey, maybe we'll get lucky and Clinton will change too independent and run again! then we might have a chance again.
kantav18: Republicans are the ones blocking lower gas prices?

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,3656鈥?/a>

Anyway, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable leaving it up to any government to control the gas prices. Gas prices are high because we're consuming it like its running out.......oh wait! Duh! If we stopped driving our gas-guzzling SUV's 2 blocks to get our Starbucks and whatnot and just walked, or rode a bike, or used public transit then things like the cost of fuel wouldn't turn our world upside-down. Its still ';we the people'; and not ';we the government'; right? Take matters into your own hands. Do what YOU can to reduce your daily dependence. Don't expect the government to fix it for you.
i dont know so far its obama or mccain....since clinton dropped out...but maybe he can if he really puts effort to it.
Yes, but the Republicans voted against a bill yesterday that would reduce the price of oil and gas for the hardworking Americans. Most democrats want it but the republicans voted against it. Why, because of personal interest such as profits and link to lobbyist.

    other changes that democrats will bring in Washington;

the first issue is the economy, the unemployment rate is now 5.5 percent. Price of gas and food had gone up and people who do not make a lot money are suffering.

    * in one city alone there is more than 600 houses in foreclosure because the government doesn't support the people. Many lobbist in Washington are part of the problem. The lobbist in the the Republican party are in the interest of the elite, people who owns oil companies, pharmaceutical comp. The lobbist do not want to pay a lot tax, so the middle class is suffering because they have to pay more tax than the rich.

3, college is expensive and the loans companies are making money on the students.

    4. Healthcare and insurance is a problem, many people can't afford insurance, especially low income familes.

5, the war, it takes 10 billion per month to stay in Iraq.

The politics in Washing ton needs to be fixed and the middle class families needs to get a break from paying Higher taxes than the rich. Senator Obama says that these are the problems that the county face. I believe that with the help of senator Clinton and other democrats, the problems such foreclosure, health insurcance, saftety and the costly war will be resolve. but they have to clean up the mess first. I believe the democrats will bring changes because they are in the interest of the people, not in the insterest of the lobbist or the elite or the oil industries. They can bring changes in many people's life who are now suffering.

as POW he voted against a bill that will give soldiers more benefits in term of finishing their college for free.

Lastly, the republicans also vote against a bill that will reduce the price of gas on the hard working Americans because they make profits on the oil industry. They work for lobbyist mostly.

If you want change I think Obama and Clinton wants to help middle class and hard working Americans.

  • How do i fix an overload of vegatable oil?

The recipe called for 1/3 cup of oil, and I put 1 cup and 1/3 of it because I thought I put the same amount of that as I do water, please help. Is there any way that I can fix it?How do i fix an overload of vegatable oil?
    what was the recipe?

is the oil floating on the top you could try to remove some.

if it was for a cake double the rest of the ingredients except don't add any more oil and just add 1/3 cup water and just make 2 cakes instead of one.How do i fix an overload of vegatable oil?
well, that lemon supreme is garbage because baking it longer won't make the oil go away since it does not evaporate much. Sucks when that happens, I know. The first time my daughter baked anything, she mixed up the soda amount with the sugar amount. It ended up looking like a brown roof tile, with the same consistencey by the way, and tasted like nuclear waste. her sisters till tease her about it.

I doubt anyone will get sick but it won't taste good, an oily mess.
nope. you put a whole cup more than needed.

Should i fix my 95' infinity J30 oil leak?

I have a 1995 infinity j30. It runs fine at the moment but has an oil leak. Its a rather slow leak. I took it to a mechanic and he said its leaking from the cam seals and some valves(i forget exactly where). The estimated repair is 600$. The car has 171000 miles. My two questions are, Will the leak get worse? and how quickly? Basically how much longer can i expect from the car assuming nothing else major goes wrong? And should i spend the money for the repair or just save up for the new car?

Thanks :)Should i fix my 95' infinity J30 oil leak?
    A) from a strictly environmental standpoint - Yes.

    B) from a practical standpoint if you are loosing less than 1 Qt / 1000 miles it is more of a bother than a serious problem. It may worsen over time but I would simply keep a close eye on it and save for a replacement car.

Your car is in the top 20% of total miles and a major failure of any driveline component could easily happen in the next few tens of thousands of miles. Should i fix my 95' infinity J30 oil leak?
if the car is not worth it.or you cant afford to get it fixed.try seal repair fluid.auto parts store.seals get hard as they get old.the fluid you add will soften them.it will either slow it down.or solve it.good luck.

2004 Acura TL engine oil smells like GAS, is that normal? How much will it be cost to be fixed?

I checked out a used car today, it was an ACURA TL 2004 3.2 LITER. The engine oil smelled like gas and supposedly it is bad. Can anyone tell me what will happen to the car if i dont fix it? How much will it cost to fix it? Is this normal? What exactly is wrong with the car? Please reply to this post, I am still deciding on whether to get this car. Thank you!2004 Acura TL engine oil smells like GAS, is that normal? How much will it be cost to be fixed?
I agree with mr if the car isn't yours don't buy it!!!!!! You don't know how long the owner has been driving the car like this or how much damage the gas in the oil has done to the engine internally. Especially don't buy this car if your getting it from a private seller or small mom and pop dealership because it will either be sold as is or you will be fighting to get them you help pay for repairs. Do your self a favor and go find a different car.2004 Acura TL engine oil smells like GAS, is that normal? How much will it be cost to be fixed?
Stay away from it. Gas in the engine oil screws you in two different ways: Not only do you have an internal leak somewhere to find, but the gas mixing with the oil ruins the lubrication properties of the oil. The engine is spinning with gas-thinned oil in the bearings, so all the bearing in the engine could be wearing abnormally.
From what I can only gather the only way possible for gas to get into the engine oil would be piston related (meaning the piston rings are all worn) on a 2004 this would be a ridiculous proposition and result in you not buying the car.

Still...I think you might be wrong, it might just be old oil...or you might be smelling a leak in the engine compartment at the fuel rail or the fuel pump.
    dont get the car!!!!

it will cost you alot in the future.
if the oil smells like fuel , id bet that you have a leaking injector or two (or six) replace all 6 injectors to make sure that you have a good set tat does not leak, start the car, if it is really hard to start again like it is now,.....

Is fixing an oil leak on a 1999 ford contour expensive?

it all depends on where the leak is coming. if it's coming from the engine, yea it can be expensive, if it's coming from the oil drain plug, or an oil pan gasket, it's not expensive at all.Is fixing an oil leak on a 1999 ford contour expensive?
that just depends on where the leak is at. some places it don,t take very much money to fis like valve pan gaskets for instance. but you take something like the rear main seal then your looking at some money. Is fixing an oil leak on a 1999 ford contour expensive?
well it can be but ask your self how bad is it leaking if you are putting oil in you car every day then it could be a cracked oil pan

Why Should Domestically Produced Oil Be Allowed To Sell For At OPEC's FIXED Prices?

The price of gasoline in Venezula is 17 cents a gallon.

    In Mexico it is $1.00

Why are we letting the Oil Companies Gouge US ?Why Should Domestically Produced Oil Be Allowed To Sell For At OPEC's FIXED Prices?
Part of the reason is that America consumes the most oil of any country.

So we are dependent on foreign oil and must pay their price. The second reason is that BUSH, Cheney, Condlisa Rice and several other high ranking Governmet official are all former Oil Execurtives and still have ties to the American oil companies and are making sure they make their buddies rich as long as the oil last. And the oil IS running out, why do you think we are REALLY in the Middle East??Why Should Domestically Produced Oil Be Allowed To Sell For At OPEC's FIXED Prices?
lets go back in time with this answer. american people have the shortest memory of any living human being. back in the early 80's when the oil industry in america almost went belly up and banks in the mid west closed because opec glutted the world market. if you recall world oil per barrel dropped to 10 per barrel. i didn't see all of you cry babies yelling that we need to help the oil companies. you just smiled everytime you filled up at the pumps and people like me lost good jobs and i didn't hear one voice in this country cry out that jobs banks and little oil companies were hurting now with the oil trading on the world market and production is slowing the price of oil is going sky hi and all of you flaming liberals are screaming about the high cost of gas and how much higher can it go. you are getting a lesson in economics mexico and venezula can charge what they want even at a dollar a gallon in mexico the people can't afford to buy it we see it everyday with the stream of illegals coming over the border. we are not producing much oil in american anymore because our poloticians want votes and the eco freaks are still screaming that we can not drill for oil in america we can not build new refineries in america we can not build new electric power plants in america and God for bid we can not build nuclear power plants either. so tell me all you cry babies out there what would you do exept pay opecs and venezula and mexico price for their oil. you may not believe this but we buy oil from mexico and venezula for what the price is on the world market. the price per gallon is 118 per barrel and this is what mexico is getting for their oil on the world market. like your dem hill told your dem obama if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen mr doodles

Fix a Ford contour Stripped oil pan treads (oil plug)?

I have a 1999 Ford contour, with a 2.5L engine. I was doing and oil change and I notice that the drain plug was not getting tight. I pull it out and I noticed that some of the oil pan treads came with the drain plug. I would like to know if there is a way to fix the oil pan without changing the pan; What tools and parts do I need to repair it? and what will be the cost to replace the oil pan? any info will be appreciated .Fix a Ford contour Stripped oil pan treads (oil plug)?
Take the old plug to the nearest NAPA store and get the proper size self tapping magnetic replacement, Easy fix.Fix a Ford contour Stripped oil pan treads (oil plug)?
well either get a tap set at the local parts store made for drain plugs or the make a kit that makes new threads and the bolt to replace the old one as well. common problem easy fix. oh get a new drain plug as well. the parts store may also have a kit that has a tap and a plug or they can pair it up.
They make a slightly oversize line of drain plugs, just for that problem. And if they make a special line to fix a problem, you can guess how many times everyday someone strips-out their drain plug !!

    Well, it is a 2-stroke...

Your oil injection unit could be injecting a little too much oil. If this was the first start of the season, I wouldn't be too concerned with it. My sister got into an accident and says her oil is leaking. Does anyone know what kind of part it would need to fix it? ThanksWhat needs to be fixed in a 1998 2 door Honda Accord with oil leaking from an accident?
. Yeah if it's leaking that means the gaskets or oil seals ripped or broken.

It would help to know what oil, is it trans or motor oil?

Some cars have Trans fluid lines under the car for cooling in the radiator.

If she hit pretty hard it could also mean the Motor or Trans case is cracked.

Depending where it comes from, then prices to fix it can be determined.
where is it leaking from? could cost 0 to 500 dollars.
Could be something as simple as an oil filter or oil line. Maybe

emergencyLawn mower cap went missing, the oil dried out and the engine is not starting??? what to do ?? can u fix it?
I think you are talking about the gas tank cap not the oil cap. Make sure the gas tank is clean, add new gas, and try to start it. If it won't start put a teaspoon of gas in the carburetor and try to start it. If it runs great, if it runs for a few seconds and quits, you may have to remove and clean the carburetor. Make sure that the oil level is correct before you try to start it.Lawn mower cap went missing, the oil dried out and the engine is not starting??? what to do ?? can u fix it?
If you ran it without oil, you destroyed the engine. Buy a new mower or a new engine for it and hopefully now you will learn to check your oil more often.
Take it to the mower service center and have them do a tune up and get a new oil filler cap.

you probably need to change the oil sending unit on it,when those get bad they will shut the car down its designed to do that,it keeps you from doing damage to the engine, usually that's all it is, is the sending unit, try changing it they cost around 40 bucks and that's probably the cheapest repair that you could get away with on that one,it takes less than 30 minutes to change one,and that usually does the trick, good luck with it.Have had problems with oil pressure It stalled out on me can this be fixed cheap?

I am a woman!!!?
No because you are a woman your feet will not be long enough.
where is it leaking from? and the simple answer, regardless of sex, is probably no.

it could be simply a case of a loose bolt. look for where the oil is, and check the adjacent bolts... loosy left, and tighty right...
Its leaking because a seal or gasket has blown. If you have had any engineering skill then give it a go, but from the sound of it you haven't a clue, so go to a garage
Gender's got nothing to do with it. It just depends where it's leaking from, that's the first thought. Might be something as simple as a loose pipe clip, which you can tighten with a screwdriver. On the other hand it might be something simple that no-one can get to without the arms of an ape and universal joints on their elbows - or alternatively a hoist. Or it might be something more complicated that needs a mechanic's tools %26amp; expertise. Don't know until we establish the source.
could be a number of thing......head gascet, cracked sump, you`ll have to take it to a garage or get someone who knows what they`re looking for

  • Why would an engine flood the cylinders with Oil? and how do I fix it?

I have a 4 cyl. (V4) air cooled engine in a bobcat skid loader that when started, floods the cylinders with oil, backfires black smoke and dies. I then can't start it again until I drain or blow out the oil from the cylinders. It just started doing this, but it has always burned a lot of oil, it's an old engine.

It's a VERY simple engine to work on, so any common fixes would be appreciated. As of now I can't run it for more then a couple minutes before it dies. Why would an engine flood the cylinders with Oil? and how do I fix it?
Sounds like the engine needs a rebuild. The piston rings and value seals need to be replaced. Why would an engine flood the cylinders with Oil? and how do I fix it?
yeah it sounds like the rings to me as well , have you ever gotten it hot? if so probably scalded the rings and cylinders.. if not been hot just wore out that happens sometimes ,, if just wore out you may get by with just putting oversized rings in it,,, if its wore enough ,, if its not wore enough you'll have to have the block bored out to the next size ring 10 over 20 over is most common,, but if you do tear into it check your bearings while you got it appart may need complete rebuild.

i know its bad news but it happens
You probably have leaking valve seals in your head you can have the head check maybe just put a band aid on it by replacing the seals. It is possible that the rings are bad but unless you noticed a big difference in HP it is probably not that.

I would take it to a reputable Diesel shop that has the capability of repairing heads in house.

It sounds like you don't want to put a ton of money into this machine so i would recommend finding a used engine instead of rebuilding yours.

Try this link you can search bone yards that may have your same machine they are parting out. Good luck. http://www.machinerytrader.com/listings/鈥?/a>
Needs to be rebuilt the rings have gone and the cylinder needs to be rebored
I had a Tempo that did that too. It was the seals. I ended up getting rid of it because it was to much work and and old car.
definatly need new rings and new gaskets all around.

How come price fixing, is not only allowed, but required for gas and oil prices while it is illegal for all?

other areas of retail??? There are many different companies who drill oil, yet with that particular trade if one company raises it's prices per barrel of oil, all oil now costs that amount per barrel, where as with any other industry, competitors agreeing to set their rates at the same price would be illegal. How come price fixing, is not only allowed, but required for gas and oil prices while it is illegal for all?
It might have something to do with policy of the administration. Gas companies in this country have to deal with the US. They are the ones with record profits, it's not just OPEC. 70% of the cost of gas goes to gas companies in the US.How come price fixing, is not only allowed, but required for gas and oil prices while it is illegal for all?
I'm not a fan of big oil by any means, but I'm not sure you understand how this works. Firstly, its not fixed. If you mean the barrel price of oil, its a publicly traded commodity, and it fluctuates like any traded item daily (hell, hourly!). Secondly, its not fixed at the pump either. As I'm sure you've seen, the price varies from station to station, town to town, region to region.
Who told you oil prices are required to be fixed? Not true at all. It is one of the most freely traded commodities %26amp; prices are fixed by contracts. When you hear prices quoted per barrel that is simply the quotation of the last contract price for a particular grade of oil before trading closed for the day on the spot price market. It is entirely possible that only ONE contract among thousands was sold at that price all day.

I seem to recall that decades ago the government fixed prices for US produced natural gas but those days are long gone.
Wow. Prices aren't fixed by AMERICAN companies for oil; they are set by free market supply and demand, with support from OPEC.

US has no ability to enforce our law on oil producers. They can charge what the market will bear.
Having been in the gas business for years, I can tell you that there was absolutely no price fixing happening. It is a hugely competitive and cutthroath business. I had to keep tabs on the gas prices all over the city at all times in order to balance being competitive with making money.

If someone raised prices to say, twice the normal profit marging, there there would always always always be someone near them that would undercut them by some amount in order to steal all that business... then they would be undercut themsevles ad infinitum until the normal street price stabilized near the break-even point for everyone.

So it is practically impossible for the price fixing you describe to occur in practice on any scale whatsoever... its just way too competitive, margins are close to zero already. In fact Visa makes more money on a gallon of gas than the gas station (yes, its true).

Why's my car leaking oil and how can I fix it?

What's happening is I have a Chevy Cavalier 2000 and oil is slowly leaking all over the sides of the top of the engine. Apparently it's coming from the head gasket. I'm not a car mechanic or anything but I'm going to try and sell my car and a friend of mine is going to take a look at it with me on Monday. We were looking at my engine after work and all the screws that hold down the top of the engine (sorry I don't know the terminology) were loose. And he said that's probably where the oil leak was coming from. He said that probably due to vibration the screws came loose and that's what caused the oil leak. So I was thinking about taking the top of the engine off, cleaning everything up and then resealing it, and then cleaning up the screws and then screwing everything back on. Does that sound good? Or could it be another problem? I'm thinking that the top part of the engine just came loose. Thanks. Why's my car leaking oil and how can I fix it?
does not sound like a Major problem and like the others say it would be the rocker cover/Valve cover or cam cover anyway providing that is the problem area you should be able to to pick up a gasket kit or some sealant compound....

you want to take off the leaky section and clean up the surfaces being care full not to cause damage to the metal but enough to remove previous seal

make sure (if using a instant gasket as liquid) that there is no oil on the surface off the joining metals

tighten down bolts from middle outwards...if you have a torque wrench and are worried about sheering the bolt then set it to around 8nm i no that's not much but if your not sure it can help to have the setting...finally clean up oil that has previously leaked with de-greaser and then run the engine for a few min to make sure that it has fixed the leakWhy's my car leaking oil and how can I fix it?
if it is on top of the engine, that's the valve covers. you can change them easily. then tighten the bolts down, starting from the middle out to the ends. just make sure you don't over tighten the bolts and break off the head.
knowing what the problem is , that means the problem is 50% solved knowing how to solve the problem, you see where i am going with this.you and your friend is on the right path follow it through...
Well remember how you took it off so you can put it back together but i would tke it to a pro.
It's most likely the valve Cover gasket, just replace it.
its leaking cuz u didnt take care of it, u can try getting a mechanic to fix it(lol). :-p
MAYBE BECAUSE I SHOVED MY BIG JANGLY **** IN THE EXHAUST
There are a lot of places that a car could leak oil from. Some are more likely to develop leaks than others, so if you're troubleshooting it you try to confirm or rule out from the most likely to the least likely. An auto repair manual for your car could help you with this or else someone experienced with fixing cars. Your friend seems to have some experience, so I would follow his suggestion and see if it works. If it doesn't, he probably has another guess where the oil could be leaking from and you'd have to follow up on that. Fixing a car can be frustrating or fun depending on your attitude towards it. Hopefully it saves you some money as compared to taking it in for repair. Good luck.

How much does fixing oil leaks cost?

Well I went over some bump on my car a 2001 Daewoo nubira, and it wasnt till after i got to my friends house that i noticed it was leaking oil badly...then i jsut had to push my car homeHow much does fixing oil leaks cost?
Depends. If you put a hole in the oil pan, then they would have to take it off and fix it. Then they would have to put in on with new oil pan gasket and oil change too. So a oil change may run just $20 at a cheap place. But the labor and everything, I would guesstimate at about $125. Dealer, $300. That is at a small garage, and not at the dealer. Also, you would have to get under and see where the leak is coming from. If something happened and you put a hole in the oil filter, then you are looking at $20 again. If you take the filter off, you might as well do the oil change.

There is a nut on the bottom of the oil pan to let the oil out. See if for some unforeseen reason it got knocked loose. If it is loose, you can tighten it yourself. But if so check later to make sure no leaks are coming from there. How much does fixing oil leaks cost?
Depeneds on where it is coming out of. There is a chance the engine may need to be removed from the car. If it happened going over a bump you likely damaged the oil pan. My suggestion if it is the pan get a used one from a junkyard.
You need to ask someone who can look your vehicle over and give you a repair estimate. If I say $30000, would you take me seriously? How about $30? Or $300. You see, you have no reason to accept an answer except that the number pleases you or not. So, go get an estimate of repair.
you must had busted your oil pan. The oil pan should be around 60-120 bucks adn it's not that much. You could change it yourself and it's not all that hard. Of course, you could take it to the shop and they'll charge you at least $250. Go to a auto shop that you trust or one that your friend trust. Ask the shop how much would they charge you if you were to buy your own oilpan. It should be a bit cheaper if you do decided to go to the shop. well good luck
Check your oil pan and your oil filter for holes. This will tell you if its major or minor.
It realy depends on the problem...It can be as simple as a bad oil pan plug(bolt)-10-20$ or it can be as bad as a blown gasket which can be very expensive because the engine has to be removed and partially dismantled to install the new oil pan gasket in this case you could see a bill of 500-1000$ but could be less depending on the vehicle. Other problems could be a bad head gasket or cracked head both fairly expensive but still not thousands of dollars. In this case since you hit a rough spot in the road I am going to assume that you either broke off your oil plug or cracked your oil pan. If it is a cracked oil pan you could be looking at a 700-1500$ repair ticket.
i own a shop,an you probably busted an oil pan on it,it could cost around 300 to get this one repaired, that should cover parts and labor on it though, good luck i hope this help,s.
a roll of duct tape is about $2.35 at lowes i think. but if it happened when u went over a bump, u probobly jiggled a hose loose. Anyways have fun!!!
It looks like its leaking from the bottom but it could be leaking from anywhere. Fixing leaks can be cheap or expensive. If it's a front seal you could probably do it yourself. If it's a valve cover you could probably do it yourself. If it's a rear seal you'll be spending a lot of money to get it fixed. Another thing you can checkis make sure the oil filter is on tight. Thats it.

Too much oil in a motorcycle oil change, how do i fix it?

I was changing the oil so basically i allowed the oil to drain, then poured in the new oil, but first i poured in 1.4 liters, which was what was written on the oil cap on the bike. I saw no oil in the glass gauge, so i added some more oil, and still saw nothing. I added MMUUUCCCHHHH more oil, and then the gauge was over filled. So i put the motorcycle on, and let it run, and it ran, without the oil cap on, and it was sputtering oil out, and i thought this was a good way to get rid of some oil. Later i closed it n just went home thinking it would be fine. Next day i woke up tried to put the motorcycle on, and it wouldn't start. I even tried kick starting it, and i was able to feel alot of pressure. What i did was remove the cap and put a straw in so that i can remove oil by putting my finger on it. All the straw hit was metal. What should i do to remove some of the oil? Sorry about the extremely long question. Should i just turn it on without the oil cap and let the oil sputter out? I dont want to unscrew it where u let the oil out for the oil change because then too much will come out. any suggestions? thanksToo much oil in a motorcycle oil change, how do i fix it?
You can unscrew the plug about 90% and the oil will slowly leak around it then tighten it when enough oil has come out.

I had to do this on my GTO. I thought the Mobil 1 bottle was a gallon so I put in 1 full bottle and then the second bottle until there was 2 quarts left. The when I finished I realized the bottle was 5 quarts so I had put in 8 quarts instead of 6. I don't know why I did this since the bike is a 4 quart oil change and I leave 1 quart in the bottle, just wasn't thinking I guess.

But do not run the engine if it is substancially overfilled, this can cause big problems.Too much oil in a motorcycle oil change, how do i fix it?
Drain it. Write off the oil that you put in it and start from scratch. Use the correct amount, the oil will be cheap compared to a new engine, you should not run it without the cap on it.
You could try getting a small rubber hose long enough and use it to syphon out like you tried with the straw. The hose wil provide flexibility and allow you to get deep into the engine block.
You need to drain it. Also the bike should be on a center stand when you check the oil to see how much is really in there.
Drain it out in a clean pan and start over.
dump the oil and jus tput in the right amount okay Nimrod?
The first thing you want to do is always check the oil level at the sight glass by having the bike level. Either put it on its center stand (if it has one,) or put a piece of wood under the side or kick stand. Now after you have done that, if it still looks like too much oil is in it, then drain some out. Starting the bike and letting it spatter all over the seat, engine, floor, ground etc is not a good way of doing this. I know that oil is getting expensive, but count it as a lesson learned and take the drain plug out and let the oil drain into a suitable container for recycling, or into a clean container for reuse, since you have no miles on this oil. Then carefully pour in the amount required by your machine-which to me roughly translated into 3.25 us. quarts.

Having a little more oil in the bike is not nearly as dangerous as not having enough.

  • Oil leak...how can I possibly fix this?

Okay, I own a 1998 Volkwagen Passat and discovered a bad leak near the oil filter. The oil filter is not leaking. The leak is coming from the part where the filter is mounted on. I have no idea how to remove this because it is difficult to see if its one big part or several parts that must be removed. Has anyone had a similar problem and how did you resolve it???Oil leak...how can I possibly fix this?
It sounds like the oil filter mounting plate. On some cars it is integral with the oil pressure regulator. You will need to drain the oil and remove the filter. Two or three bolts hold it in place. You should be able to get a replacement from a junkyard. They are full of Volkswagens.Oil leak...how can I possibly fix this?
before you do anythng, simply remove your filter and check and see if the o ring is sticking to the mount, 99.99% of the time ppl install a new filter that has a new o ring on it, to a mount that has an old o ring stuck to it from the previous filter.
on that adapter plate you can remove the filter and tighten the spindle nut to slow or stop that leak. if it has leaked for a while it might be time to replace the seal between the block and that plate.
First make sure your oil filter has the little rubber sealing ring in place and it tightly screwed into the filter, Oil is under pressure when the car is running and it could be spraying up.
i'd do an oil change on it, and make sure that you've got the correct oil filter to begin with. Check to see if you've got the rubber seal that goes around the oil filter on the front of it. (where it's threaded)
Most mechanics aren't bothered to change the o-ring seal when they fit the new filter in (because mechanics are lazy bums) so I would not be surprised if the o-ring is rotten...and with the cold weather....anyone remember why the Space Shuttle exploded?
It might be the oil filter gasket

Welcome to the world of Neon blown head gaskets.
Slid under the car with a trouble light and find out what part of the engine the oil is coming from, and then we can go from there.
need more details if the leak in the valve cover gaskets that is not as pricy as a head gasket replacement. It may even be you oil pan.

How bad is it leaking , like how much oil you use inna week?
Be careful, some of these engines have a know problem of the camshaft seal falling out. Chrysler makes a kit to stop this from happening.
I'm sure that the paint is chipping too. This is one of those cars that just continues to have problem after problem. If I were you I would think of getting something else as soon as you can before something else breaks on it and it just keeps costing you more and more

Can I trust my current mechanics to fix my car with oil leakage?

I'm currently own a 1996 Toyota Camry with mileage of 131000 which passed down from family. I knew my car have a leakage problem from the beginning. The last autoshop I went told me it was a leaking timing seals problem, which also cost the lower control arm busted due to oil soaked from the leak. Then, I went to another autoshop and they told me it was a oil pan gasket leakage problem, not the seals. Which one is corrected? And how much does it usually cost to fix the leakage? Is the leakage going to damage other parts of my car as well? Can I trust my current mechanics to fix my car with oil leakage?
oil loss will cause other problems, due to heat and friction, not to mention the mess where ever you park. i can't tell you exactly what is leaking without looking at the car sorry. but Toyota's with 131000 miles most likely have leaking valve covers.the valve cover has to be removed to change the timing seal i suggest that both be done at the time the oil pan gasket is done . than have your engine detailed.you should be good for another130000+miles.Can I trust my current mechanics to fix my car with oil leakage?
Well im not really good with things like this, try searching google or a professional mechanical question site, Im sure they'll have the answer your looking for there!
    Check your requirements for maintenance.

You could be close to or past the point of needing a timing belt change.

If you are, just take the car in and have the timing belt replaced, and new cam seal put in.

If the car is not loosing a more then a quart of oil every 1000 miles or less. Don't worry about the leaks.

As for the lower control arm, it may need new bushings. But take it to a front end specialist and ask for it to be aligned. If it needs new bushings, they will tell you.

As for the first shop, don't go back there. I think they want to finance a long winter cruise using your money.
Well, the first shop does not know their butt from a hole in the ground. No oil will break a metal bar(lower control arm).

Go to a third shop. See what they have to say. One of these shops are gonna jive with another one. Then you can figure that is the part.

As for oil damaging other parts on your car....';a little secret - every once in awhile the highways department spreads oil on the roads (especially before paving a section)';. Now, how many cars would be going in for repair? And suing the highways maintenance department for the damages because of it? Too many. So THAT can not be the case. And it isn't.
If oil is leaking it is definitely the seals the main problem is not the oil damaging you car but the water or coolant mixing with the oil an contaminant the fuel mix. Its still drive able just keep an eye on the colour of the oil and change a bit more regularly than usual.

Compleat Idiots guide to How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive

    by john muir

    he was a genius.

along with cool detailed fun art it gives you step by step instructions for repairs, maintenance and all that
The cover bolts may need to be re-torqued or the gasket may need replacement.
Go buy a Chilton's or Haynes manual from your local auto parts store and a set of gaskets and some shop rags. Then follow the step by step instructions on the procedure in question. And wha-la your fixed. The only tool you should need is a screw driver to unsnap the valve cover clips ( 1 per cover ) pull them downward. Remove the covers then wipe 'em clean especially along the edges where the gasket sits. If you have to scrap out the old gasket be very careful not to scratch the surface. I prefer a large dull driver with no sharp edges. Once you have the cover clean and the head has stopped dripping. Carefully rub fresh oil around both sides of the gasket and place it in the cover. Slowly position to cover back in place being sure not to shift gasket position, hold it tight to the head and re clip cover strap ( screw driver again ). You should never use silicone or any other type of gasket crap in this procedure. If done well the leak will stop, Good luck!
Valve cover gaskets. But a word of warning: if you are running those shiny chrome valve covers, there is your problem. They just simply do not have the right texture to hold the gasket. Instead, the gasket gets sucked in and leaks. Regular black covers are cheap and good. And you won't need any gakset cement. Just place them wqhere they go. If necessary put a little grease to hold them in place in the covers--usually not needed. A thin coating of grease on the gasket surface will held keep it from bonding to the head. Be sure the head surface is clean before putting it together. Check the cover for flatness against a flat surface while it is off. You may be able to tweak it back to flat--otherwise replace.
I've fought chronic leaks on the air-cooled and finally was given the solution- Scrape off all the material stuck to both the head and the cover.

Snap the cover on without a a gasket.

Get a flat nosed punch and custom fit the valve cover to the head by tapping the sealing surface of the valve cover to fit the mating surface on the head.

I have used both cork and rubber gaskets with equal results. If they continue to slip out of position- you can( in a fit of desperation) glue them into the valve cover with gorilla snot, yellow terror, ie contact cement. Let dry over night.

Don't change out working gaskets. Only change them when they leak.
ausrin, I wished i lived close to you. all your problems are so simple. gaskets are so simple. the hardest part is going to the store for them. snap off the clip that holds them on, clean everything really good and replace.

I HAVE A 88 s10 with a 350 in it i think one if not more of my lifters isnt getting oil how can i fix this?

truck was running perfect for about a month then all of a sudden something started squeeking and it sounds like its coming from under the vaulve covers. someone told me it was the flywheel hitting the transmisson so i replaced it and a new fat starter (slim wold not work from my motor) its still squeaking and i cant figure out what too do.I HAVE A 88 s10 with a 350 in it i think one if not more of my lifters isnt getting oil how can i fix this?
Someone told you a line of bull, Lifter get oil, if the oil pump is working, but the springs inside the lifter can fail. It will cause a ticking sound under the value cover. But the lifter isn't what you hear. The rocker arm has alot of play because the lifter isn't doing it's job. Pull your value covers and look around Be sure all the pushrods are making contact with the rocker arms. Rotate the engine and check them again. If you find one that has excessive gap, check the push rod. Be sure it isn't bent. If it seems ok, you will need to tear down your motor farther.I HAVE A 88 s10 with a 350 in it i think one if not more of my lifters isnt getting oil how can i fix this?
You can try an engine oil flush but this doesn't work all the time, If it doesn't then you will have to tear down the engine.. Sludge build up can sometimes be flushed. There are several brands of flush available at the auto parts store.. or you can try putting a quart of transmission fluid in your oil and let your engine run for about an hour then change your oil and filter. Transmission fluid has a heavy concentrate of solvents which keep the sludge from building up in the trans. Careful though,, if it's left in the engine too long it can deteriorate O-rings and gaskets Good luck

How can i fix my motor if it has gas and water in my oil?

this sounds like you blew out your intake gasket.put new one on and flush out the motor block .How can i fix my motor if it has gas and water in my oil?
You have a cracked block --- I would bet you have had a radiator/ running hot problem. You need serious ( money wise ) motor work. The engine basically needs to be rebuilt--starting with the block. How can i fix my motor if it has gas and water in my oil?
    need to rebuild the engine.
    Both? Ouch!

Drain out the oil today. Don't let it sit with water in the oil, it'll rust and lock up in a pretty short time. After that, you need to figure out where the gas and water are coming from. For water, it's most likely a blown head gasket, that's a major repair--verify with a compression test. For gas, it's probably something you'll remove while you're tearing down to the head gasket, a ruptured seal somewhere in the intake system. If you can do all the work yourself, expect to spend about $200 on fluids, gaskets and hoses. If you have to hire it out, you might have to add another zero.
    drain out all the fluids...

http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/cto/1309728748.htmlHow much would a oil leak cost to get fixed?
Depends on where the leak is, if its on your oil pan you could probably do it yourself for the price of a gasket...if its in the head gasket it will cost a little more and is harder to do...maybe $200 to have some one do it or if its not too hard to get to you could do it yourself for the price of a gasket...you could get the gaskets at auto zone or order on line and save a couple of dollars. gaskets should cost between 15 and 30 bucks. if its somewhere else it could cost big bucks in labor to get to.How much would a oil leak cost to get fixed?
It depends on where the leak is. It could be as little as $100 for a valve cover gasket, $300 for a pulley seal to $600 for a head gasket or $1200 to replace a cracked engine block. Chances are if the seller did all that work to it already and didn't fix the leak, the problem is a major one he wants to pass off to someone else.
The seal may cost you 5 dollars the time a effort to get to it could cost you a 1000 dollars. There is no way to know for sure unless you take it to a mechanic and have them give you a estimate. There are allot of seals than could leak and most likely has more than one.
A oilpan gasket cost around 15 to 40 dollars, and on some cars are very easy to replace, but on some cars they are a pain to put in so it would be better to replace it your self.
    As much as $600 .

No oil does not come from the coil pack. If you have an oil leak around the area its probably from some thing else. If it goes out you can be stranded. its a 97 nissan altima fuel injectorsHow can i fix my idle? an fix the gas from going in my oil?
You shouldn't adjust your idle. It is factory set and electronically controlled by your computer. You probably have a cracked block or a hole in one or more of your pistons. That's why you have gas in your oil and a low idle. Can't fix that by adjusting idle. You need to rebuild your engine. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news. How can i fix my idle? an fix the gas from going in my oil?
There is a slight chance your getting fuel in your oil via the vacuum system(PCV). I know real mechanics will argue this, but I just had this problem with a Taurus, and spent some good money on the advice of real mechanics...so...

We may need a little more info to really answer your problem. How much gas are we talking about? like liters of fuel?

If your having idleing problems and fuel in the oil, that MIGHT be an indication you have a problem with your emissions system.

Hope you didnt blow the engine though.
Fuel pressure regulator is faulty. It (fuel) is leaking backwards into the vacuum system and being deposited into the intake manifold and dropping directly into the crank case.
your piston rings are shot if you're getting gas in your oil pan. the hydraulic idle should have two nuts on the link adjust w/ the first nut, then tighten it down w/ the second nut snugggly.

I just noticed oil leaking out somewhere on my motor, I have to take it to get it looked at. Do you think this would be very costly to get fixed?Does anyone know if oil leaking in your motor is something hard to get fixed?
It depends on what the cause is - mine was a seal so it was not expensive so have someone check it out first to let you know what it is before you agree to pay for anything. If you go to the dealer, you will pay much more though just because it is a dealer so ask a friend or family about any reliable mechanics that they know.Does anyone know if oil leaking in your motor is something hard to get fixed?
It's just a gasket that's worn. Compare prices if you don't know anyone who could do it for you for free. (relative or friend).
it all depened where the oil leak is at. if it leak by the oil pan the it is easy. but some where else it might be little bit hard or harder
Depends on where it is leaking from(which gasket) and what the make and model is of the car
Depends on where its coming from. If its a head gasket, no biggy. But you first have to find the source.
I've had a couple of oil leaking cars. I think it's just as easy and cheap to check and refill often.
It depends upon where the leak is located. Oil leak from the engine, or transmission fluid from the transmission, Assuming it has an Automatic Transmission. If the leak is coming from the front of the engine, the front seal may need replacing. It depends upon the engine, as to the difficulty in replacement. If it is coming from the rear of the engine, same thing, only easier to replace if the bottom part is leaking.

It makes a big difference what type of engine, 4cyl. 6 cyl or 8 cly. You must inspect the engine and determine the source of the leak.

Mechanical work is not cheap these days, but stay away from dealers. They will be busy telling you all the things that need fixing whether they are important or not.

maybe someone you know has some knowledge about cars. Ask around and you may be surprised.
It all depends where it is coming from. I hope for you its minor fix
    Could be.

Some leaks are expensive it is a main cranshaft or cam seal. Rear seals require removal of engine and/or transmission.

It could be the oil pressure sending unit, which would be cheap.

You need have it cleaned to see where the new oil is leaking from.
it may be leaking from the oil drain hole. When the oil is changed by your garage they are supposed to replace the metal gasket but may not have done. There is a bolt on it's own, about half an inch across, which when removed, lets all the oil out. A new gasket for this is just a few pennies, make sure it is replaced at the next oil change.

The other place is around the oil filter. This is a canister a bit bigger than a can of beans and usually a bright colour, orange or blue. In your engine compartment, low down. You could try to tighten it, just by hand, clockwise.
This would depend on the age / make of vehicle.

If it is leaking out the sump, or from the head, the gaskets will need to be replaced.

Check the oil to insure the oil has no water in it - in which case it could be the 'head gasket' and will need to be replaced.
need more information about the car and type of oil leaking ..

If the oil pan is easily removed, meaning there is no obstruction where the engine needs to be raised up off the engine mounts, then it sounds like a couple hours labor plus the new pan and gasket and an oil change. Figure 150 labor 35 oil change and whatever for the actual pan say 150 dollars. An Alignment will run 60 the shock (strut) can be 150 for the part and 150 installation. I would say total about 850. Alignment 60-70 bucks, also replace the shock on the other side as well or you'll have one side riding nice and the other bumping around like old jello. Are they original shocks? If so replace all 4, you'll be happy you did.
Not enough info. Car/make/model/year? You're looking at a big payment, easily in excess of $1000. Sometimes the engine has to be raised in order to install a new oil pan!
Alignments usually run $60-80, Shock about $100 with shock, Oil pan hard to say. Don't know make, model, engine if they have to drop the cradle to replace.

Check your spark plugs. I had the same problem with my car leaking oil and jumping, then I went to get an oil change and tune up, and the mechanic found one of the spark plugs covered in oil. The jumping is more than likely caused by a spark plug misfiring. If it's not going into drive, you could have oil backed up in your gears which could be a big problem.

You should get it fixed quick because it could lead to a coil problem, blown cylinders, or busted tranny sooner or later. Coil isn't to bad to fix but if a cylinder goes out, the engine block needs to get replaced. We all know tranny's are expensive to fix.

sounds like you screwed up yo four wheeler man...if it was me I'd do it my self but if you take it to a mechanic who is fairly reasonable i think it will only cost around $300-500 if they don't have to tear the whole thing down. if they did have to do that it might be about $800...sorry to tell you those high prices but mechanical work is expressive and you have quite a problem. hope i helped.
Learning the hard way to always check the fluids every time you start up any motor I see. Been there, done that myself. I think that you really might be better off calling around to the local salvage yards and auto junk yards for a motor. It will cost you far less to replace the wrecked one than pay to yank out the motor and tear it apart one piece at a time. Of course keep all the parts and pieces of the wrecked motor for replacement parts If something goes wrong with this working motor. Be sure to get a warranty with any used motor and the best advice is to go to your auto parts store and spend twenty bucks and buy a manual for your year vehicle and study it. Good luck.

My engine oil smells like gas, I do I fix this.?

it also has black smoke coming from pipe, and its ';jerking'; when i push gasMy engine oil smells like gas, I do I fix this.?
The engine is being over-fueled by the fuel injection system or carburetor. The jerking you ';feel'; are the spark plugs not being able to ignite such an over - rich fuel mixture in the combustion chambers. Unburned gasoline is traveling through your exhaust system and partially burning in the converter instead of the combustion chambers. Raw fuel is washing down the cylinders into the crankcase oil. A rotten plugged-up air cleaner can cause this.

We must know the year make and model of your car to have any chance of helping you out. A car is not just a car, they're all quite different.

If your car hasn't had a tune-up in the past 50,000 miles it's over due. Possibly the plug gaps are burned too wide so the spark can't jump the gap. The ignition wires should be replaced right along with the spark plugs. * It's imperative the the car gets the factory recommended spark plugs. They'll be listed in the book in the glove-compartment. If the book is missing the dealer of your can tell you exactly which plugs it should have.

You've got a lott of stuff to check and we know nothing about your car!My engine oil smells like gas, I do I fix this.?
Your fuel injectors are leaking. After you shut your engine off fuel line pressure is being dumped into the cylinders and the gasoline then seeps past the piston rings and into the crankcase. Leaking fuel injectors also cause a rich fuel mixture while the engine is running which accounts for the black smoke from the exhaust pipe and jerky throttle.
if the engine is carburated the choke is sticking,if the engine is fuel injected have the throttle position sensor and the fuel/air solenoid checked once you find the problem you need to change your oil and filter, new spark plugs %26amp; a tune up wouldn't hurt either.
Dear Finesse it sounds like you have a injector stuck open and gas is getting in the oil and the black smoke is the engine flooding you need to take it to a shop or if you know someone have them check it i hope this helped
while wildbill has a partial point, he completely forgot to ask the year, make and model of the vehicle we are talking about as then we will know if it has a carburetor or fuel injection...

so that being said, year, make and model please...
This problrm is not going to be diagnosed or fixed via the internet. Take it to a mechanic!

1983 Chevy K 10 6.2L I have oil on the driverside floor> Why? Want to fix it But dont know where it is coming

I own a shop, and a truck. The oil pressure gage has an oil line that runs from the top back of the engine to the gage. A lot of times this line is plastic, and will crack or break off right where it attaches to the gage. This line is very small as in 1/8'' and is difficult to repair. The best thing to do is; go to a parts store such as Auto Zone, and purchase a new copper line. You don't have to buy the gage just an install kit. The kit is made for this problem, and gives you everything you need to do the repair yourself. You don't even need to cut the tube, just tie up the excess tube with a wire tie, and leave plenty to move with the engine, and/or the cab of the truck. Make sure where it runs through the firewall that it goes through a grommet or some place where it can't rub the metal, as this is usually what starts them leaking. The oil in the floor will get severe if you don't fix it right away. It may not need anything but tightened up where it hooks to the gage to fix the leak, but if its anywhere else you will need to replace the line. The reason is; you can purchase a new metal line for about the same price as you can a fitting to repair the leak.

The threads of the oil-drain hole in my car are crossed.. how do i fix?

Its making the motor oil leak.. its a 17mm hole.

ThanksThe threads of the oil-drain hole in my car are crossed.. how do i fix?
First question is did you do it yourself or was it damaged at a shop? I took a new car I owned to have the oil changes at a jiffy lube type place and they stripped the plug. I made them pay for a new oil pan. The best way to handle a leaking oil pan plug is to replace the pan. The oversize plugs and some of the other quick fix remedies listed in other responses here don't last long and will need to be redone. The only way to fix a problem is do it right the first time. Don't let these other wannabe's convince you otherwise. The threads of the oil-drain hole in my car are crossed.. how do i fix?
Leave it to a 40 year mechanic to turn a $10 job into a $400 job.

Don't just tap it to the same size or it will strip. You need to tap it to the next size up with the same thread pitch and use a larger plug.
Visit your local automotive store, they sell oversized drain plugs. Otherwise replace your oilpan.
you can geta tap to repair it at an auto parts store. bring in the oil bolt with you if you can.
This is easy.....Any hardware store has a small hand screw plunger that fits all oil tank drains...Same thing happened to me and I thought I was screwed, but the plunger works and it's cheap.
They make an self tapping over-sized bolt for just that. You can find it at any good auto parts stores. NAPA should stock them
the auto parts store will have something to rethred the hole take your plug with you...they might have a larger size that might also fit ... for a quick fix you can use pipe tape on the plug.

Does the engine still spin if you turn the key? If it does put oil in it and cross your fingers. If it is stuck pull the spark plugs and dump oil in. Let it soak and see if it breaks free. If it does put oil in it and cross your fingers. If it runs and its quiet you are lucky. If it runs and makes strange noises it could get worse so you should get it fixed right before there is further damage.Mercury salt water,125hp,2003 model, ran out of oil and shut off how do i fix it.?
Hopefully, it shut off because of a low oil sensor and not because it seized up.

If it seized up, you will need a Gold Master Card to repair it.Mercury salt water,125hp,2003 model, ran out of oil and shut off how do i fix it.?
You buy a new engine, the one you have is done.

Probably not. You're probably going to have to visit a mechanic...even the valve cover gaskets on that car are a PIA to replace.I have a '97 Infiniti QX4. I think I have a small oil leak causing a small burning smell. Is this easy to fix?
Check your valve cover, oil pan and filter for leakage. most can be fixed, some not easily.

Nephew mixed oil/gas in go cart engine wont run now how can i fix it?

does the engine need to be replaced? its not froze up but just wont startNephew mixed oil/gas in go cart engine wont run now how can i fix it?
You failed to mention the type of motor that is being used.

Normally if you are mixing oil with the gas it is intended to be used in a two stroke engine, and if this is the case well then all that has to be worried about is if the mixture is well mixed and of the proper proportions.

Back when I used to race two stroke engines we mixed the oil at 28%, now days they manufacture oils that are mixed as thin as 100 to 1. I can not imagine this but they advertise thus.Nephew mixed oil/gas in go cart engine wont run now how can i fix it?
The question is what did he do?

Did he put the oil in the gas or the gas in the oil?

If he filled the crankcase with gas then there maybe some piston or crank damage. [that is if was run]

If he dumped oil in the fuel tank then drain the tank %26amp; refill with free gas. Drain the carb. remove the spark plug %26amp; give the engine a few pulls. This will help purge the cylinder. Clean or replace the spark plug. The engine will be fine from this encounter.

    禄禄禄
Bummer! Drain the fuel tank completely. Pull your sparkplug and clean it with solvent, let it dry or use a lighter. might as well clean the contacts on your plug while your there. Give the engine a few cranks without the plug. Then install your plug, if it has a fuel filter, change it. Refill your tank and starter up. If it doesn't start remove plug again and repeat the cleaning of your plug and try again. Your engine should be fine. I've seen this a lot in lawnmowers, you be alright...
just dump the gas clean or replace plug really shouldnt have done anything maybe just needs a plug ive run chain saw mix gas in ours more than once when kid run out of gas never hurt ours other than plug maybe fouling out might find some great info here on tuning up kart or keeping it running me and my brother race kart a few yrs with 5hp briggs
You must drain and flush the gas tank. You must change the gas filter. When refilling the gas (with gas) add small amount of 'dry gas' (can be purchased in any auto supply shop). Good Luck.
Just drain the gas tank and take the float bowl off. And change the sparkplug.
remove the gas tank and clean it properly and refill it with just gas, it will take some time, but she will start
suck the gas out with a turkey baster then fill with fresh gas it will take a minute to start but it will
replace the gas it it and the plug. put 93 octane back in fuel tank that will burn any oily res. left in your head.

Car leaks oil and my oil lite be on and the checks d engines is on how cam i fix myself cuz i just got lad off?

You can't even type properly, I doubt you can fix a car.Car leaks oil and my oil lite be on and the checks d engines is on how cam i fix myself cuz i just got lad off?
The oil leak probably will cost you. It will be cheaper to just check the oil often. buy the cheapest oil, since you will not be changing it any time soon. The check engine light is probably just an oxygen sensor. Probably not a big deal. Keep oil in it.Car leaks oil and my oil lite be on and the checks d engines is on how cam i fix myself cuz i just got lad off?
well first you have to find out where the leak is coming from. and you can go from there. the leak is the most important one. for now. maybe after you fix the leak the lights will go off.
look and see what leaking then go to autozone tell them what saw they tell you how fix hopfully cheap

Survey : I just waded through oil and washed off, but I'm still black from the waist down - how do I fix this?

HAHAHA you are insane baby. Too funny!!!Survey : I just waded through oil and washed off, but I'm still black from the waist down - how do I fix this?
That's not funny. That happened to me on the santa monica beach like a couple weeks after the oil spill from Sadam/Iraq...seriously and birds were covered in oil too. So the civil? engineers are still figuring out a way to remove oil from saltwater and things like that, we had one talk to us in physics classSurvey : I just waded through oil and washed off, but I'm still black from the waist down - how do I fix this?
pour coca-cola on the spots that are still black... just hope the coke dont eat ur skin off with it lol.....
Rip open one of your feather pillows, then roll around in it. Wa la .. feather pants ... you'll probably start a new fad. :P
since oil and water repel...try using alcohol (rubbing alcohol)...and use a cotton (ball or cloth) to wipe it off...its a lot of work but it will remove the grease off.... :)
Babe...get out the ';fantastic'; cleaner....I hear it cleans those ';fantastic'; areas!!!
walk on your hands in the same oil. you know you always wanted to be black.
Now why do I find that strangely exciting .....?
don't fix it...the most important part is better now

    ;)
    Why would you do that?
    you are silly
I am free whenever you are, give me a time %26amp; a place and I will do the fixing ;)

95 Buick Riviera, low oil pressure when idoling, goes up to 40 when moving, what's the fix?

yeah i would just not worry about it too much, it sound normal. some cars are just like that, but if youre really worried about it,then flush your engine at your next oil change just in case your pump is a little dirty, then drive it like you stole it and have fun. also you can do what i did and get a k%26amp;n oil filter.95 Buick Riviera, low oil pressure when idoling, goes up to 40 when moving, what's the fix?

95 Buick Riviera, low oil pressure when idoling, goes up to 40 when moving, what's the fix?
sounds like your low on oil, or the pump is blocked a bit
it is either low on oil or a cam shaft bearing might be out
I've owned one of the those car's before the oil pressure just does that at an idle, mine was taken back to the dealer on that issue.. The engine doesnt need to pump massive amounts of oil at idle rpms...
There is no easy fix. The crank and rod bearings are warn. Pull the engine and put a crank kit in it. That will fix it. Personally, I'd leave it alone, just drive it until it drops. It will last for a long time like that. When it starts to knock, then you have problems. Now, you may be able to flush the engine with deisel fuel in hopes that there is some slug clogging the pickup screen, but that's a long shot.
use 20w-50 motor oil your bearing have to much wear on your high milage vehicle.
    just the way it is
