hi, the only news is bad im afriad. you punched a hole in the sump while driving...

did you drive very far before you noticed it? coz it sounds like youve done the crank or the big end shells.... (the knocking is the pistons slapping the top of the compression bowl)

oh, im english, and we own a garage... a HGV garage admittedly, but an engine is an engine... I fixed my oil pan after a rock broke it but now since i started it the cars engine is knockin what can i do?
5toze pretty much said it.

If the engine's crankcase oil level is full, then we have some less than good news for you, in fact it is some hard news. a deep knocking sound usually would indicate failed main bearings. This is the resultant of running the engine oil starved. If the engine does not knock at very low rpm, but begins to once it goes above 1000-1200 RPM and begins that knocking, it indicates major engine service.
Check and make sure you have enough oil in it.

Replacing an oil pan won't make your engine knock, but if you drove for awhile without oil in it, that may have caused the knock.
Did you check and refill the oil in the engine?
