If the airlines can be fined for price fixing, why not the oil companys?

The top article on Yahoo today was that the airlines had been fined for falsely inflating their prices. Sound familiar? Why hasn't the Oil industry suffered similar censorship?

Or is it that the president comes from an oil family?

Congress and the Justice Department have done many investigations into the oil companies since the 1970's (and probably before). They have yet to find any evidence of price fixing. Believe me, if they had, they would have prosectuted it.If the airlines can be fined for price fixing, why not the oil companys?
airlines industry is particularly dominated and driven by some rules and regulation of each nations aviation department of the nation. but if we are talking about the crude oil price it is not in hand to control the price when the cost stumping the levels and one thing is that as before all the crude oil price hike were due to supply ans demand mismatch but in today the demand has not grew as large as the price of crude oil, so it is the game of some of players for many specific reasons like weakening US$, recession, hedging, speculations etc... And also president Bush has talked at progressively stage with the Saudi Arab oil explorers and other key heads.

it is true that in India the AFT is at the price about 70 rs while filling fuel in Singapore for just 45 rs a lit, so what is your opinion?

They could be charged with price fixing if there was any evidence of it. I am not sure what President Bush would have to do with that however. He does not make laws or enforce them.
I'm sure they look for it everyday
