Oil is sold on a global market and is a fungible commodity. OPEC does not set prices, they just set production quotas for thier member states. When they set quotas low - and actually stick to them (they're not that disciplined, historically) - the price will be higher than it would have been, and all oil producers reap that windfall.





Mexico and Venezuela have nationalized thier oil industries, America has not.

high prices its still costs more to produce domestic oil. the last


time I heard that number was several years ago and it was reported to be 5.40 per gal. But I do not stand by that as fact but


I believe foriegn oil is still cheaper than domestic.


Venezuela has its own oil and Mexico is on subsidies.
We're paying for the difference in those prices, just like we pay the difference for medications that are very cheap in other countries. Venezula is nationalized and it's their oil and their President is a socialist, this is one way he redistributes the wealth.
It seems to me that Americans share a lot in common with Sheep. (not all, but many) They just get herded around by their Govt. and do whatever they're told too. The public school system is designed to raise followers, not leaders. This country doesn't want leaders, because they already have its future planned out and it doesn't involve benefiting its people.
The price of gasoline in a country is inversly proportional to the % of the total it imports. Venezuala imports no oil, Mexico imports little oil, the US imports most of its oil. If only the eco weenies would let us drill for more.
That what I'd like to know. The prices jumped last night, and it's the same gas in the pumps that was in there an hour before.
We are getting screwed that's what...not to long ago OPEC said the prices are going up because of demand.. a few weeks ago when Bush asked to increase production they said no because there was not enough demand for it.. but the price go's up daily..

Funny how you pick two countries that don't have nearly the importing oil issue that the US has. They get their oil from domestic supplies and therefore it is cheaper in their country. Are you saying we should drill more in the US?

Because we have no choice..the liberals and dems will not let us drill to get our own oil in Anwar nor North and south dakota..WE need more refineries,more Nuclear power, and tell the middle East to kiss off..
Then what would keep these domestic oil producers from selling the product overseas for a higher profit?
