yes... by not repairing the machine and not cleaning up they are saving time . the time they saved allows them to service more people and get more money..
car repair men are notorious for leaving behind lots of oil I make them clean it up before I leave..Can a company save even more money by neither fixing the machine or wiping up the oil?
Your question provides no context in which to frame a response.
But in general, any savings enjoyed by delaying repair of a machine or by avoiding other maintenance or cleanup are usually very quickly absorbed by more costly repairs later on or by payments either for workman's compensation due to an accident or OSHA fines.
Failure to perform repairs or to remedy an unsafe condition in order to save money is false economy. Can a company save even more money by neither fixing the machine or wiping up the oil?
depends on the costs of repair vs the costs of not doing the repair. if it is just an oil seal leaking, then yes, the costs to bring the machine down for maintenence, including the lost production, could easily be many many times the cost of just mopping the oil up and refilling the sump periodically with fresh oil. or it might not. circumstances will dictate.
