Oil-Immersion Lens Troubleshooting: What would I do to fix problem of artifacts being in the microscopic field

What kind of artifacts? Shadow? Off center? or a Bubble?

(1) if you see a dark shadow, check the position of objective lens, it may be loose or off position.

(2) if it is off center, check the stage that holds the objective. In addition, check the position of condensor filter or valve(s) that controls the light flow from ';objective to eye pieces'; and ';objective to CCD camera';.

(3) if you see a bubble-like smear under the microscope, clean you lens.Oil-Immersion Lens Troubleshooting: What would I do to fix problem of artifacts being in the microscopic field
Read above. In addition if you prepared the slide make sure the bubbles are not in the slide. For me it was always hit or miss if I got bubbles in my wet slides, but I found if you drag a corner of the cover into the liquid and dropped the cover after that, bubbles were less of a problem.
