It is sometimes difficult to identify the origin of the oil leak. It may be dripping from your oil pan but could be leaking for anything above, such as a valve cover. To answer your question about adding oil, yes.


Be sure it is the correct viscosity (weight, such as 5W 30, 10W 30, etc.) and that you do not add too much and overfill your crankcase. Be sure to add a little and check you level with the dipstick and avoid overfilling.
